Already in the early days of the establishment of the kehillah Rav Batzri attempted to implement the holy words of Chazal, who declared that the world is upheld with three pillars – Torah, avodah (tefilla) and gemillus chassadim.
In response to his call to increase chessed in klal Yisrael, tens of gemachim were opened in Beer Sheva, providing many kinds of services with generosity and discretion. The difficult economic situation has not passed over the residents of the south, who often turn to Rav Batzri for assistance, and he faithfully does what he can to assist them. His sphere of activity incorporates hachnossas kallah, assistance for new mothers, organisations for prenatal health and preventative treatment, weekly food distribution for needy families, the gemach ‘Ohr Shani’, the gemach ‘Simchat Yitzchak’ named for Rav Yitzchak Kaduri ztz”l, provision of clothing and shoes before the festivals, kimcha d’pischa and much more too…. It is clear that if not for Rav Batzri, many families would find themselves incapable of providing respectable seudos for Shabbos and Yomim Tovim, and unable to dress their children with dignity…
All assistance is given with a friendly countenance, with the greatest of discretion and in a manner that will surely not cause anyone embarrassment.
